Trout Lake BC is a former boomtown which became a prosperous city in the late 1800's. Most of the West Kootenays were thriving mining towns in silver, gold, lead and zinc. Trout Lake City was booming by 1890 and had over 2000 miners residing there. The city built stores, hotels, a school, churches, and a hospital. The boom did not incline as expected and the Trout Lake City population decreased over the years. Now days Trout Lake populates less then 30 year round residents.
